Fira de Santa Llúcia
231th anniversary of the Fair of Santa Llúcia
This year we celebrate the 231th anniversary of the Fair of Santa Llúcia (1786-2017, it is probably much older, but the first appointments are documented in 1786). With the motivation to improve the fair year after year, both the Association of Saint Fair and the City Council have worked together to offer you the best fair possible. This year the fair will open its doors next 24th november until 23th december. Again, this year we have achieved to mantain the activities that we offer for you all. From 25th november to 17th december, all activities are confirmed. We are currently working to extend them to the rest of the fair.
This year, next to the Fira de Santa Llúcia, less than 100 meters away, in the Frederic Marès Museum, in Plaza Sant Iu number 5 in Barcelona, we will have a nativity scene of more than 35 square meters, with figures of up to 40cm height. (More information in the section of exhibitions of Nativity Scenes).
We hope you enjoy.
Reform of stands and new Christmas lighting
The Fair St. Lucia wants to improve the image and the overall aesthetics of the fair. Within this aim, three years ago we started a project where we have defined that the image that the visitor must have when arrives at the fair, must be the closest to a small mountain village in the Christmas period; for it we have defined a number of changes, to reform the existing stands as the new ones of this year.
In addition, we also released new individual Christmas lights for each stands.
Continuity in the number of exhibitors at the fair
On 2012, the Fair grew from 270 to 283 stands. The following year the fair grew again with four more exhibitors, until 287. This year we have the same 287, 123 stands within the sector of nativity scenes and figures, 96 in the area of trees, moss and herbs, 64 in the craft sector, and 4 at musical toys sector.
Eighth anniversary of the Fair's website
Hello friends, welcome to the website of Fira de Santa Llúcia, where we are celebrating the eighth anniversary of this website, which we hope will be yours too.
We continue working to make it as complete as possible and we ask for your collaboration, as you also do on the fair, to complete the photographic archive on the web. If you have photos of the Fira, whether old ones or more current, you can send them to this address: firstname.lastname@example.org. If you know the year and/or who the photographer was, please tell us. After uploading they will be resized to 800x600 px and 72 ppi for use on the website. If you prefer to resize them yourself before uploading, please remember that the minimum size is 800x600 px and 72 ppi.
Activities at the Fira
As we do every year, we are organising various activities such as the Giant Tió of the Fira (a log which produces presents!), the traditional Carassa parade. An this year we celebrate the 24th edition of Day of Christmas Traditions and Customs in Catalonia, including the awarding of the prize for the Stallholder of Honour, which this year will be delivered on 16 December at 7 pm. For more detailed information go to the Activities section.
Do not forget to visit the great nativity scene of the Frederic Marès Museum, 100 meters from the fair
